Colorado is located in the middle of the mid-west. The western half of the state features the Rocky Mountains. Colorado has thousands of miles of well-maintained trails through the mountains, forests and plains. These trails attract hikers, backpackers, trekkers, wilderness campers and mountain climbers as well as horseback riders and mountain bikers. Western Colorado has the town of Mesa Verde and Mesa Verde National Park—home of the world renowned cliff dwellings.
